Sellers have their own tell: 78% are more likely to hire an agent offering high-resolution photography and 75% one offering virtual tours and floor plans. AI photo enhancement and virtual staging, properly labeled, are part of the listing pitch now (Zillow Group, 2025).
When 55% of buyers use generative AI monthly and one in five turn to chatbots to research neighborhoods and values, the businesses those tools name get the first call (Cotality, 2026, National Association of REALTORS®, 2026).
What your peers are actually doing
Zillow's 2025 consumer report found that 36% of sellers found their agent online (it was 15% in 2018), 33% of buyers say online research played a key role in choosing their agent, and — the number that should be on your wall — 47% of buyers and 59% of sellers hired the first agent they spoke with (Zillow Group, 2025).
A mid-2026 survey of more than 100 brokerage leaders found only 1.9% with no plans to adopt AI (down from 10.6% in 2024) and 3.9% reporting no AI use at all (24.8% in 2024); 47.6% now rate AI's importance at 8 or higher out of 10 (HousingWire, 2026).
- 82% — of surveyed agents now use AI (Feb 2026)
- 46% — of Realtors report no noticeable business impact yet
- 47% — of buyers hire the first agent they speak with
- 16% — of buyers trust AI to help find a home, down from 30%
Where the payback actually is
We ranked ten use cases by what they do to revenue or hours against what they cost to set up. Three sit clearly in the upper-left corner — high impact, low effort — and they are where a business of this size should start.
- Instant lead response (AI ISA)
- AEO: being cited in AI answers
- CRM lead scoring
In the same NAR survey, only 17% of agents reported a "significant positive impact" from AI and 33% a "moderately positive" one; 46% reported no noticeable impact at all. The tools are cheap and everywhere; the results go to the people who point them at the right job (National Association of REALTORS®, 2025).

The part nobody wants to read
In a 2026 survey of more than 250 brokers, 55% were implementing AI regularly and 35% called themselves daily users, but 57% said they lack the education they need and 40% cited security or compliance concerns. Adoption is a solved problem (National Mortgage News, 2026).
One rule covers most of the risk: a person checks every fact about a price, a promise or a law before it reaches a customer. The chapter on rules goes through the ones that apply to this industry specifically — in the United States and in Chile, where Ley 21.719 takes full effect on 1 December 2026.
